Heat Wave...

Heat wave…

This day is wind-still and feverish

Hedges full of brown beetles

Provide the shrill-screamy backtrack

To this hellish summer's day.

I pause and wipe my brow

Sweat trickles down my neck and breasts

Into my already soaked shirt

That clings to me like a lover.

Force another deep breath of scorched air

My footsteps soft on melted tar

Walking amongst the wavy heat ripples

Always walking-walking to where you are…

I so feel your pain, this heat is unbearable! Thank God for airconditioning at work!

I think I need a head-sized aircon. My mind's gone into a state of slumber with this heat!

Hi Louisa, sorry you must be going through a heat wave there. Here in the northern hemisphere its still chilly. Did you ever find out if the mouse got the spider or the other way around?
I love your humor Hon :)

Hi Patsy!
Yep, it's pretty hot here at the moment. It's been basically 30'c and more every day now for a week. Also it doesn't really cool down at night bacause there is no wind at all! Usually when we get a heat wave like this it end in a big and spectacular storm - I'm really looking forward to that. :-)

As far as the spider and the rat are concerned: It looks like the rat made it out unnoticed and was then subsequently caught in a trap in the lounge. I'm kind of hoping that the spider got out (and very far away) in the same way.

But...I have heard from a sometimes-reliable source that new carpets might be coming soon...and if they do come to fit it i will advise them to have a small fire-arm ready when they move the bookshelf in case they need to take the spider out (it really is pretty big!).

Hehe...as you can see: I'm very cautious of spiders.
